A Splendiferous Retelling of Uncomfortable Truths

We raise our glasses as you raise your fists

You eat the scraps as we eat our feast

We sleep in comfort as you sleep in streets

You pray for anything as we pray for more

We wear tuxedos as you wear dirty skin

You lose your lives as we lose our heart

We die from boredom as you die from AIDS

You live in soot as we live in mansions

We look for purpose as you look for help

You are dying miserably as we are living lavishly

We, the lucky, and you, the loveless
